Untitled design 10 - Types of Skin Conditions

Your skin speaks for you. Being the first shield that protects your organs and body from everything, the skin can be affected by the external environment. Skin problems can occur due to an allergic reaction or some irritation from something from the outside environment. Some skin problems can be unsightly but harmless while others can be contagious.

Skin conditions caused due to an allergic reaction occur when there is an intake of certain foods which the body is unable to accept. While other things like a certain soap, wool or an animal can also cause an allergy which may result in itching and redness on the skin. There are other serious skin conditions which are hereditary like eczema.  Eczema causes blister-like rashes and weeping on the skin. Families which are more prone to allergies usually face this skin condition.

Symptoms

The skin condition of every individual is a reflection of their health. Any changes in the skin tone or any rashes that may appear later on can direct a doctor to a certain health problem. The inflammation of the skin is the most common sign of skin diseases like eczema and psoriasis.

The red splotches on the skin is a sign of an allergy caused by nickel which is found in jewelry. Acne on the face is very common where there are red blotches but it is often confused with rosacea which also looks similar.

The tiny red spots you see when you hurt yourself happens when the smallest blood vessels in the body bleed into the skin. It can be caused by certain infection or physical trauma.

Signs and Treatments

The most common signs of skin conditions are itching, swelling, redness, rashes, flaky or scaly skin, blisters, oozing and bumps or growths. Different signs signal to different conditions and all have different treatments.

The doctor will study the skin type condition along with the severity and take the appropriate action. Some skin conditions can be treated with ease using ointments, gels, and creams. Sometimes, doctors have prescribed the intake of drugs or even injections.

When a skin condition has become difficult to treat, the doctor may recommend surgery where the bad skin is removed from the rest of the body. It will a minor procedure but the success rates are high. Sometimes, the skin condition may grow back if the treatment is incomplete without the use of drugs and the intake of medication.

Genetic treatments will usually be recurring unless the doctor changes the root cause through medication. If you feel you have a skin condition that needs to be checked, make sure that you visit a doctor and start the treatment as soon as possible.
