Who doesn’t love nachos? Given the fact that this recipe is expensive if bought from outside – you can make it at home. Making desi nacho snacks is easy – from making the nacho crisps to the salsa that goes on top of it can be done in no time. This recipe will show you how to make the nachos and how to make the salsa in two different phases.

Here is what you need to make the nachos;

  • 1 corn – blended into a paste
  • 1 cup maize flour (makkai ka aata)
  • Hot water
  • 1 teaspoon ajwain
  • 1 teaspoon cumin (zeera) powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric (haldi) powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ tablespoon garlic paste
  • ½ tablespoon ginger paste
  • Salt to taste

Here is how to make it;

  • Add ajwain, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, ginger-garlic paste, and corn paste to maize flour.
  • Mix well then add hot water to the mixture.
  • Mix all the ingredients well so that no lumps are formed.
  • On a hot pan (tawa), add a scoop of the batter and spread it into a thin sheet. Use a ladle to scoop the batter into the pan and using the bottom of the ladle, spread the batter like we spread pancakes.
  • Once the bottom becomes crispy and strong, take it onto a chopping board.
  • Using a pizza slice cutter (or a knife), cut the sheet into nacho shapes. Make sure that these are smaller in size so that it is easy to bite.
  • Once the nachos have been cut, fry the pieces in hot oil until the color changes to golden-brown.
  • Take them out onto butter paper so the excess oil is absorbed and the nachos becomes crispy.

Here is what you need for the salsa;

  • 2 large sized Tomatoes – finely chopped
  • 1 medium sized Onion – finely chopped
  • 1 medium-sized Capsicum – finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice
  • Coriander leaves – finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves – finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce

Here is how to make it;

  • Mix all the ingredients together.
  • On a platter, spread the nachos and add cheese on the top.
  • Add the salsa on top and microwave the platter for 1 minute.
  • The cheese will melt with the nachos and the salsa.
